Virtual Cyber security Expo: Friday, October 30, 2020

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)! To celebrate, the UCF Information Security Office hosted our annual Cybersecurity Expo (now known as PegaSec) on Friday, October 30th 2020. This year's PegaSec Expo was virtual and featured cybersecurity content tailored for members of the UCF community. This event provided participants with an opportunity to hear from cybersecurity professionals, understand why information security is so important today, and learn how to protect their personal information.

Recorded sessions are now available on the UCF YouTube channel. Links to the videos and slide decks, where available, are below.

Quantum Reckoning: The Coming Day When Quantum Computers Breaks Cryptography

Roger Grimes (KnowBe4)
Quantum computing is getting ready to break all traditional public key crypto, like RSA and Diffie-Hellman, and every secret it protects. This means that digital certificates, PKI, TLS, VPNs, Wi-Fi networks, and even most crypto-currencies are left unprotected in an instant. The only question is when it will happen. Many experts think it’s sooner than you think.
Attend to learn about:
  • How Quantum computers are breaking today’s crypto
  • When it’s likely to happen
  • And what you can do to start preparing for it today
The digital day of reckoning is coming. Will you be prepared?

Many Ways to Hack MFA

Roger Grimes
(KnowBe4)

Everyone knows that multi-factor authentication (MFA) is more secure than a simple login name and password, but too many people think that MFA is a perfect, unhackable solution. It isn't!
I can send you a regular phish email and completely take control of your account even if you use a super-dooper MFA token or smartphone app. Attend this presentation and learn the 12+ ways hackers can and do get around your favorite MFA solution. The presentation will include a (pre-filmed) hacking demo by KnowBe4's Chief Hacking Officer, Kevin Mitnick, and real-life successful examples of every attack type. It will end by telling you how to better defend your MFA solution so that you get maximum benefit and security.
