The UCF Information Security Office (InfoSec) would like to make university employees aware of recent phishing emails targeting the UCF community.
These emails may appear to come from Knights or UCF email addresses, have a subject line that looks to be in response to an earlier message you sent, and may even reference previous message conversations.
These phishing emails follow a typical pattern. The email will typically:
- provide you with a link to a document you weren’t expecting;
- use phrases like “here is an update of the project,” “here is a form you asked,” “the contract has been updated, please check,” or “this is regarding our last dialogue”;
- include a password to access the file, typically a four-digit numeric code.
If you receive such an email, do not click on the link or reply to the sender. Report it to the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) by using the Phish Alert Button or by forwarding it as an attachment to SIRT@ucf.edu .
If you clicked on a link in such a message and downloaded any files to your system, please contact SIRT immediately at SIRT@ucf.edu .
